چکیده

The subject is truly vast, far greater than will be encompassed in this paper which can be best deal with various examples. It should be realised that virtually any fairly solid substance may be called upon as a bearing material. It is easy to quote common examples which use rubies, wood, rubber, leather etc. as bearing materials and this diversity is only a microcosmic part of the range available.

Synovial fluid inflammatory cytokines and proteins in clinically healthy and arthritic joint of dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius)

Analyzing the synovial fluid is one of the common methods to diagnose the articular problems to detect the stage and express the prognosis. Such gross, cytological, and biochemical analysis of synovial fluids can aid in the diagnosis of various joint diseases. Objectives: Normal values for synovial fluid in the camels have been described previously; however, there are no reports regarding conce...

Effect of Angiotensin II on Blood Flow in Acute and Chronically Inflamed Knee Joints of Rabbits: The Role of Nitric Oxide

Background: Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) upregulation in stromal cells of joints affected by rheumatoid arthritis may lead to higher tissue angiotensin II that is a vasoconstrictor and mitogen factor. To date, the role of angiotensin II on regulating blood flow in inflamed joints has not been studied. Methods: Acute and chronic joint inflammation was induced in rabbits by intra-articular...

The surface contour of articular cartilage in an intact, loaded joint.

The friction coefficients measured in diarthrodial joints are small. Theories of joint lubrication attribute this efficiency to entrapment or movement of synovial fluid, yet anatomical models of the surface are based on studies of isolated fragments of cartilage, not functional joints. To investigate the functional interrelationship of joint surfaces and synovial fluid, the ultrastructure of lo...

Extra-articular synovial fluid extravasation following operative fixation of an osteochondral fracture of the patella.

Osteochondral fracture of the patella following a lateral patellar dislocation can be treated with operative and nonoperative techniques that are dictated by the clinical presentation. In the presence of large fragments following acute fractures, arthroscopic retrieval and fixation are advocated, whereas smaller displaced fragments may be removed and discarded as loose bodies. Several methods o...
